The Templar sergeants wore a black surcoat and a red cross on both sides to distinguish themselves from members of other orders. These so-called sergeants belonged to the most renowned combat unit, both for their courage and for their code of conduct and combat skills. The Knights Templar, originally known as the Order of the Poor Knights of Christ of the Temple of Solomon (Order of the Temple), was one of the most powerful Catholic military monastic orders of the Middle Ages.

Madison ★★★★★

The black surcoat with the red cross is exactly as described—the stitching is clean and the fabric has a nice weight to it. I’ve already worn it to a couple of events, and it holds up well during long hours of standing.

Ellie ★★★★★

I wore this during a historical reenactment and the red cross on the black surcoat really stood out under the sun. The fabric feels sturdy yet breathable, perfect for long days of combat demonstrations.

Robert ★★★★★

The black surcoat with the red cross looks exactly like the historical illustrations I was hoping for, and the fabric feels sturdy enough for display. It’s a solid piece for anyone interested in medieval military history.
